Aldridge wanted to transfer last year
If it were up to Nick Aldridge he would have transferred to UC from Western Carolina at the end of last season, which would have made him eligible to play for the Bearcats at the start of the 2008-09 season rather than having to wait until the end of fall quarter.
"I wanted to leave and they weren’t going to let me do that after the freshman year that I had,” Aldridge told me today. “Things kind of settled down so I went back to Western and then I ultimately ended up leaving anyway."
Aldridge said he never actually asked for his release last year. "I just figured I wasn't going to get it. I didn't want to press the issue and hurt my chances to play there."

I guess that explains what the "conduct problems" were at WCU. If I'm a coach and a player doesn't want to be there then why make him wait another year?

18 ppg anywhere in Division I translates into a player who can make a difference on an emerging team like UC. Many programs would love to have a seventh man like Aldridge -- just ask Syracuse from last night.

Pay attention genius. It's moderated; Josh's blog wasn't. The posts only show up after the moderator (Bill) approves them. So, when he's busy doing anything else, your little nuggets of wisdom will just have to wait.

Got it figured out yet? Three 2-4 rated talented players and Four 7+ talent players still leaves players rated 7 playing in the 1-5 rated spots.

5. Gates, Rivals 80
6. Mitchell, Rivals 112
7. Bishop, Rivals 135
That's 5 guys in Rivals Top 80, 7 guys in Rivals Top 135.
Not including Deonta Vaughn, the team's current best player. Larry Davis also figures to improve and contribute.
I have not done the research, but I think you would be hard-pressed to find a UC team not recruited by Mick with 5 players in the Top 80 or 7 players in the Top 135. Next year's team is very talented. Still young, but talented.

If you watch UC run offense, other than Vaughn who is a consistent scorer? You can't have too many guys that put the ball in the hole.
