Football tickets sales sets record

UC announced today that it has sold a school-record 9,426 season football tickets, breaking the previous record of 9,155 set in 2002 when fans had to buy football tickets in order to get basketball season tickets. That's no longer the case.

with over 100 days left before the opening game vs EKU season sales should easily crack 10,000.

these are solid improvements. we're heading in the right direction.

I wish they would not have raised their prices after only 1 season - especially since the home opponents aren't as strong as last season, or I would have renewed my season tickets.

Larry, I hope you enjoy the season from home. I for one am graduating in a few weeks and have already joined UCATS and purchased season tickets.

Its basic supply vs demand. Demand goes up and so does prices. Just be glad you don't pay what OSU fans do for tickets.

give me a break Larry...what a joke! The price increases to half of what the rest of the Big East pays and you back out? Are you serious? Let me guess, you were one of the guys who complained about concession lines after the first sellout in years!!!
Stay home!

Sad to hear your decision, Larry, but I assume you're an adult.

Someone will grab your seat(s) I suspect.

I'm not so certain about how weak our home opponents are. Certainly it can be argued EKU and Miami, and perhaps Syracuse, although there are signs the recruiting is going to pay off soon, so don't be too overconfident.

Pitt beat WVU last year. USF was ranked #2 last year at one point. Rutgers has been ranked the last two seasons.

So, although I believe we will prevail in most of these matchups, I do not believe our home schedule is a cake walk. They should be challenging and exciting for our fans.

Go Bearcats !!!

I hope we can get close to the 12k mark of season ticket holders before the season starts...we still have a long way to go but we are headed in the right direction.

GO BEARCATS!

Can anybody explain what this is? Some kind of countdown with several school and conference logos. Ends on 6-6-08 at 6pm.

I am so happy to see 'Cats are progressing quite well in football and baseball so far. Other sports are also with significant improvement. AD Thomas has done a great job! I noticed most comments are encouraging and more harmonious among our football fans, perhaps due to previous fruitful season. Hope our football can achieve even more this season and the same hope for basketball. "Go Cats!" from Down Under.

bought tickets for Rutgers vs Cincinnati - when Cincinnati went to Rutgers under Dantonio - cost $45.00 a sear. Same tickets same seats when Cincinnati comes to Rutgers under Kelly. $300 per ticket. Wow that is sticker shock - game was a sell out.
Quit complaining

Season ticket sales for 2002 as was pointed out is an indicator about popularity of basketball at that time. As we all know, few people were really into football like today.
How many season tickets are available after the deductions for students, band, visitors? My guess is that season tickets will amount to about 1/3 of season ticket capacity.
I wonder how today's results compare with the Sid Gilman era, the last time football was the hot ticket in town.

We're anxious to get thru another disappointing Red's season and get going again with Bearcat football. As was pointed out ticket sales for 2002 isn't comparable since it reflected how many people were buying basketball tickets when that program was still generating interest. Those people didn't all come to football games.
It would be interesting to know how current sales stacks up against available seating capacity which doesn't include the student and band sections or visitors allotments. My guess is that season tickets are about 1/3.
It also would also be interesting to know how current results compare to the Sid Gilman era, the last time football tickets were the hot item in town.

Outstanding!
I doubled my season ticket order this year.
My guess is UC football will soon become a VERY difficult ticket to get your hands on.
I hope plans for a Nippert expansion is on the way.
Its funny how times change... I wonder if the AD is thinking about forcing football season ticket holders to buy basketball tickets.
Depite the price increase UC football is still a great value.
Speaking of the home schedule it isn't quite as marquee as last year... but it has 3 different teams I have seen ranked in different preseason polls.
Ohio State only has one... Penn State.
On a side note...I haven't seen Michigan preseason ranked by anyone.
Never thought I'd see that day.
It will be interesting to see if Dan-traitor can capitalize at MSU.
