UC 74, Syracuse 66 - final score

Syracuse cut UC's 61-45 lead to six with 2:28 to go, but UC held on by making its free throws down the stretch. UC has already won as many Big East games as it did all last season.

HERE COME THE (BABY) CATS!!! I HOPE ALL THE NEGATIVE TALK STOPS WITH THIS WIN - JUST THINK IF WE DON'T PLAY LIKE A YOUNG TEAM AGAINST ST. JOHN'S THE BOYS ARE 3-0IN THE BIG EAST. OH WELL, 2-1 WORKS FOR ME - HEY MICK, I'LL SEE YA SATURDAY NIGHT!

No, the negative talk won't stop. The crybaby trolls will be out again in full force at the slightest setback. Check out the genius who posted at 14:26 left in the first half.

Bill,

I really enjoy your UC blog, mostly because in the NCAA blog I'm sick and tired of hearing about Xavier, but I also really enjoy your insight on UC athletics. I don't understand why people are knocking you on your picture... you're one of the few bloggers on here that actually knows how to iron their clothes. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

P.S. Tell the Webmaster to link up the RSS button on your blog page so I can subscribe to your blog. When I click on it, it takes me to the BCS Championship blog instead.

They are making some nice progress. Nice to see them send a message that they are going to be tough at home.

Credit Mick again with having this team well prepared for everything that Syracuse was going to throw at them. They didn't panic in the first 12 minutes of the game, and were ready to attack after that point, when Syracuse's short bench was going to be a factor that played in UC's favor.

How huge it was, too, to have Adam and then Biggie step up and sink four straight FTs in the final two minutes.

Nice win tonight by the 'cats. Villanova will be a tough game, but it should be fun to watch.

Nice win. Syracuse sucks.
Biggie will be here at least 3 years.

Hats off to the team for a fun, decently-played win tonight.

For shame to the fans that booed Adam down the stretch in the second half.

Lets fill that place on Saturday!

I'm hearing people were booing Adam H. a little bit tonight. Never ceases to amaze you how clueless some people are.

The kid gives great effort and does 85 percent of the things you ask of him well. He's not a great scorer, true, but he does a lot of things you have to do to win a game like this. If the game was only about scoring, Syracuse would have won in a walk, because they have about four great, great offensive talents on their team.

Should amend 10:42's post:

Nice win. Syracuse, winners of six straight, the No. 13 team in the RPI and 2-0 in the Big East prior to tonight, sucks.

Nice job by Sippin' Mick's crew tonight.

I just wish they started showing a consistent effort. Their response to this win against Villanova on Saturday will be interesting.

Nice win for the Bearcats.

The only bad trend I see is that when Deonta Vaughn isn't scoring they are lost offensively. There's gotta be some other scorers that will develop this year...hopefully!

I like "Biggie" Mcclain too. Big, talented, and he has a cool nickname.

They are a middle of the pack Big East team which is a big improvement. They won the game at the end of the first half. For them to be a .500 team in the Big East this season they need to win a game like the one on Saturday.

First game I watched this year. Who is #22 on UC? He looks lost.

If UC is middle of the road BE team this year in BB that is a tremendous improvement over last year.

Bill, after the game for a few hours and the day after a game you have to check this thing much more frequently. The momentum to post gets lost the more time that passes. When nothing's going on you can check it only three or four times a day.

#22 is Rashad Bishop and yes he looks lost frequently, but he is just a freshman.

Ok, I am going to welcome all those people who jumped off the UC bandwagon back on. You just know this team is too talented to finish under .500.

Roger,

I still think they are going to have trouble winning on the road in the Big East. Heck, it's hard for good teams to win on the road in the BE. They are a completely different team with Warren. UC is the definition of the total being worth more than the sum of its parts.

Mick out-coached Pitino and Boeheim; except for the St. John's game things are looking bright for the Bearcats...........The Orange looked like a totally different team from Saturday, when they looked awesome, however, they have no depth, hence they have no option but the zone because a Big East man to man will wear them out pretty fast........after the game Boeheim flew past Mick and did not even stop to say a few words to him........pomposity on Mr. B's part????

You think any of these coaches are going to show Cronin respect? He is the new kid on the block...I bet they have kids older than him.
