Vintage Huggs

Of course you all saw the Huggins meltdown at the end of West Virginia's game last night, with Huggs taking off after the officials when they failed to make a goal-tending call at the end of the game. Long-time UC fans had to be reminded of the UC-DePaul game in 1992 when he went after official Phil Bova at the end of the game as Bova was walking off the court at Shoemaker Center. You'll recall that Huggins was suspended for that little antic and was not allowed to coach the next Great Midwest Conference game vs. Marquette. What will the Big East do about this one? Is is possible that Huggs could be suspended for Wednesday's game vs. UC? Probably not. But you have to think that some sort of reprimand will be in order.

Huggins and West Virginia deserve each other. Their fans have no class. I have personally observed this at the UV vs. West Virginia football game this year and long-time UC fans have told me how NASTY they are in their miserable state.

Intense as usual.Nothing to get excited about.Of course some people will.I like it myself and if he didn't touch the guy or go way over the line I don't see the problem.I guess Cronin hollering pc unmentionables the other night is not worthy of mention because well, he's Mick.If Huggins did that it would be shown coast to coast.Besides, his team got screwed.

If Huggins could run an offense and make adjustments per game conditions as well as his screams, stomps, whines, complains and makes a damn fool of himself on the sidelines, UC would have two national championships in the past 16 years and he'd probably still be the Bearcats' coach.

But alas, he doesn't, we don't, and he ain't.

rick you are one clueless lass. This just in:GT PLAYS VERY GOOD D .And if you actually watched that game and could put aside your distaste for Huggins you would have seen some very good adjustments.WVU loses by one with their best player hobbling and questionable calls near the end and Huggs can't coach?Priceless. And this against the team who will more than likely win the league.

Clueless? Ha. You think one game makes a coaching career. But the Huggins rant and bullying and crybabying is etched in stone.

Anon 1:10 -

Too bad that while Huggins was at UC, he usually didn't make the adjustment from the second to the third round of the NCAA tourney with top 25 talent every year.

I think Huggins was going for his 500th (maybe it was 600th victory) as a coach of Akron and UC. Just imagine how many victories he could have had if he could coach?

How many W's do you have Rick?

When we get back to the standard of 14 tourneys in 16 years, Ill just maybe think about forgiving NaZi, but not until then!!!

I've never cared much for Huggs and how he handles players in a game nor some of his off court activities.

However he seems to be a kinder, gentler Huggs at W.Va. and he's got the Mountaineers playing well.

I did see the game last nite and he had a legitimate gripe about the last shot blocked by Gtwn -could easily have been called goal tending.

This Wednesday for some so called Bercat fans comes the big question - Will you be rooting for UC or secretly rooting for Huggs?

Will the student school the teacher or will the teacher prevail?

W.Va. wins by 6.

I love how this blog gets so many high profile coaches on it.Really incredible, what with all their duties as basketball gurus they still find time to contribute.Without your input I still wouldn't know that Huggs can't coach."Anon forever"
