Home court advantage?
UC plays four of its next five games at home, which should be good news, but the question arises: How much of a homecourt advantage do the Bearcats still have at home?
It used to be that a game at Fifth Third Arena was practically an automatic win. But last year UC was 9-8 at Fifth Third and so far this year the Bearcats are 4-3. That's a 13-11 record in the past two seasons.
The atmosphere at Fifth Third is nowhere close to where it once was and the crowds are much smaller. UC is averaging 7,391 in seven games in the 13,176-seat building this season, which is a little more than half the capacity. And those who have been to games this season might agree that the actual crowds often seem smaller than the announced attendance figure.
UC hasn't played at Fifth Third since the Dec. 19 loss to Memphis and except for the Tigers, who were ranked No. 2 nationally when they arrived in town, the home schedule hasn't had any teams that would serve as big attractions. Maybe things will change now that the Big East teams are beginning to show up.

No Thanks. I'll wait for next year's team before I decide to attend games again. I spend my money for good entertainment, not just to be a loyal UC Bearcat sucker.
.......The UC Bearcat Bandwagon Fan
Last year and this year are not great records, but at the same time it is much better than the road record last year that included 1 win.
Also....nice to see Josh landed at Bearcatlair.com with Rivals. I am sure he has other things working, but good to know he is still working with the Cats.
No one in their right mind would pay money to watch that crap.
The fans should show up. Bandwagon fans are awful. UC does have a pretty big homecourt advantage when the fans decide to go the games. Look at WVU and XU last year. If people show up it helps that Cats. No amount of home court advantage can overcome a lack of talent and experience. But a sold out arena could help this team chances to reach MSG.
Based on the Xavier-KState attendance, college basketball isn't what it used to be in this city.
I hate to respond to all this negativity, but isn't it more interesting to follow something in the building mode more than it is something that has started out on top. After all, isn't it more interesting watching Britany Spears, who started from nothing, than watching Paris Hilton, who started with everything? (Guess that is not really a good analogy!)
Yay for fair weather fans...
Its exactly how Nancy wanted it.
Not until they start giving tickets away.
It's not just about good entertaiment. This young group is the same group that will be bringing us good entertainment in the next 4 years. Including this season, you have 3 more seasons of Deonta Vaughn, and 4 more seasons of McClain, Belton, Mitchell, Davis, Bishop, and Wilks. Add in Cashmere Wright and Yancy Gates next season, and you're watching the development of a future Big East contender. They continue to get better and personally, I love watch the development of a team. So, yes, I will be attending.
That's only because you ain't got no money, Red Foley... Those of us with UC degrees have jobs so we can afford to support our school through thick and thin. Go Bearcats!
Any chance the Bearcats work out a deal with Skyline or some other sponsor to reduce ticket prices or other such specials? Dollar hot dogs worked for the Reds, maybe dollar nachos and $3 beers might at least get the student section filled - those seats are paid out of general fund fees and the kids aren't even using free tickets. I personally would like to take my 5yo son, but parking, tickets, concessions, gas for the 40 mile trip (one way) make it an expensive boys night out.
You fairweather fans are ridiculous. If you call the Cats your team, you should be there to support them. Those of us that are thousands of miles away wish we could attend games.
It is funny how quick things can go south. A few years ago, a UC ticket was sought after, now I know people who can't give them away.
It is a shame that there are so many 'bandwagon' fans at UC. It seems like there were an awful lot that left the basketball team wagon and hopped on the football team wagon. I am sure they will be back when Mick turns things around in a few years.
As for homecourt advantage ... it only works when your fans show up! So, no ... they really don't have that much of an advantage.
There are those who can weather the storm and others who hide until the sun breaks out. They call the latter "fair weather" for a reason.
I can not believe you guys are falling for this alleged "UC Bandwagon Fans." They are a bunch of x clowns acting as if they are UC fans.
This is not a UC thing, but a Cincinnati thing. The City of Cincinnati is a poor sport's town. The Reds can not draw anyone when they do not win. The last couple Bengals' games were not sellouts. Even x with a winning record is not selling out. They could not fill up US Bank for KState and there are alot of empty seats in Cintas this year.
UC BareCat basketball now draws fewer fans than the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Your program is a joke. Hope you enjoy your status as the bottom feeder of the Big Least!
You guys can keep lying to yourself all you want. It's not bandwagon if you won't ever jump back on. UC could go 32-0 every year and win the title and I won't ever go to a game until Zimpher, Thomas, and Cronin are fired. Some people have loyalty towards actual human beings and not towards a overpriced school.
Read the article about Kennedy on FSN.com and try and not get sick. Mick Cronin is against Huggins and he sold him out. Kennedy was offered the job if he would sell out Huggins and he wouldn't do it. THAT is what life is about. How can you people find entertainment with a person like that? People need to realize that a TON of Huggins/UC fans are gone and won't come back.
Don't be naive. There are plenty of people just like me that believe in something called loyalty and integrity. UC basketball is toast.
Long live Andy Kennedy and anyone else with integrity and loyalty.
