Waiting for the NCAA

As UC waits for a ruling on whether quarterback Ben Mauk will be granted another year of eligibility, Brian Kelly said the NCAA has asked for more information.

“We have had two additional requests from the NCAA for further information regarding his most recent surgery (in December),” Kelly said. “I’m not reading into it other than the fact that the NCAA is really doing a thorough job in evaluating Ben’s situation.”

I hope he gets another year. I think this team could do very well with him at QB next. If not we have good backups to replace him either way.

rumor going around is that mauk will be denied the additional year, and uc is trying to get info from wake about his freshman year.

Hey dizzylo86,
I personally want to see Ben Mauk back next year. That young man showed more grit than I've seen in quite a while. And, what a one-two punch Ben Mauk and Demetrius Jones would be! GO BEARCATS!!!!

Mauk was pretty amazing last year.
He worked so hard to get back on the field so I hope he gets another year. That being said Grutza can make plays with his legs and arm. D. Jones has to be very talented as well.

GO Bearcats.

If the NCAA rules against another year for for Ben Mauk, it would just be yet another decision to go against UC. It's time they cut us a break! What about Hernold Hall and Adam H. last season in hoops? Either of those could have gone our way. What are they afraid of - that Cincy might challenge for the BCS next year?

If the NCAA is looking at the most recent surgery, I think that's a great sign that they're considering granting the 6th year. I hope this request means they're looking at the physical condition of Ben and realize he was hurt most of this season too. He was quite a warrior, but I want to see what he does when he's healthy. If not him, I have total confidence in Grutza or whoever supplants him.

Very seriously doubt Mauk gets an extra year, especially now that the NCAA has closed the loophole that allowed him to play this past season.

But how does the Jason White decision factor as a precedent? Didn't he get six years due to freshman redshirting and then back to back years with a knee injury?

If so, how can the NCAA turn down Mauk?

Oh, they'll find their own loophole.

Ah 7:28, Z will never recgonize Huggs. She would consider it an admission of guilt. PD is right, forgive, forget, and move on. Unless UC does something, there will always be those fans and funders that will not forgive.

As for Ben, I think the NCAA is going to screw him. When it comes to UC, the NCAA just says bend over. They don't even kiss afterwards. I think the NCAA has asked to see the surgery records to say, "we care for this kid and if we let him play another year, he may never be able to move again, therfore, we have decided that for the best interest of Ben, we will not grant him another year".

The NCAA can do what ever they want. I think that instead of Congress wasting their time with MLB, they should investigate the corruption at the NCAA.

It wouldnt be a domed nippert. They would put a temporary bubble on nippert which would take up 2/3 of the field once the regular season is over. many schools do this. Geoff Hobson is an idiot.
