Juco center commits to UC
UC has added a junior college center to its recruiting class of 2008 with the addition of Steven Toyloy of Miami-Dade Community College committed to UC. The 6-foot-8, 265-pound Toyloy, from West Palm Beach, averaged a double-double of 11.7 rebounds and about 12 points this past season.
As a freshman at Miami-Dade, he led the nation in rebounding at 13 per game.
“He’s a real physical, very strong type Big East big guy,” said Matt Eisele, the head coach at Miami-Dade. “He’s one of the best rebounders I’ve ever coached. He has a knack for getting the ball in tough traffic areas.”
Toyloy is the fifth player to commit to UC for next season, joining guards Dion Dixon and Varez Ward, who are expected to sign letters-of-intent today, along with power forward Yancy Gates and point guard Cashmere Wright, who signed in November.

Bill,
How does UC award the scholorships? Seems like we have one too many.
The addition of Toyloy should make for a top 25 class. From the sounds of it, he's a real catch. If his JC coach is telling it like it is, and likely that's the case since Toyloy was first team all conference last year, we'll have a center/power forward who can actually make an instant impact - and then some.
Glad we didn't end up with another European layup specialist!
That does make 15 players for UC now. I guess the assistant coaches should not have to scrimmage during practice. Nick Aldridge's parents will be paying his way it looks like. That doesn't seem fair to him as he averaged 20 ppg at Western Carolina. Playing time at SG and PF is going to be tough to get. Competition is a good thing, though.
You have to wonder though about the balance between the classes. Mick has only one scholarship for the next class assuming Mike Williams is a senior in eligibility and nobody leaves that is third or fourth on the depth chart at their position. These guys better perform and continue to develop as there is no help on the way. With all of those bodies, maybe Mick can press and run up-tempo. This looks like our team for the next two years. Continuity is something we never had during the Huggins era and it will be interesting if guys buy in and can be Ok with 5 minutes a game. During the Huggins era players also made huge leaps physically between the freshman and sophomore years. We'll see who was in the gym and in the weight room all summer. I am looking forward to next season and like the overall direction Mick has gone.

Bill, where does this leave the basketball Bearcats on scholarships for 2008-'09 team? Is this the end of recruiting season for them?

Guess what...I agree again. It is hard to believe that two of your most recent posts are ones I agree with completely. While I like Adam H's story, I got tired of watching a 6'10" not dunk when he was WIDE OPEN. Anyhow, Toyloy should add depth up front and from what I can tell will give us another body that can bang along side Williams and Gates.
congrats. Yates is a real stud player, when motivated.
The summer league will be a blast!
Hey, where are all the "if you can't say anything negative then don't say anything at all" guys? CSA, this means you. Come on, somebody turn this one into a negative...please, do it for the city!
What you miss me? I'm thrilled. With last seasons top 15 recruiting class and this one in the top 20 plus the addition of the ex Texas star and another guy from somewhere else, (was it North Carolina?) this team should be a top 20 team, probably better! I will expect nothing less, especially since we also have the best coach in the country.
St CSA
It's totally inaccurate to say CSA is always negative. 99.9% maybe, but check out Daugherty's Jillian post. It's the .1%.
