Mickens on Playboy All-American team

UC cornerback Mike Mickens has been named to the 52nd annual Playboy magazine pre-season All-American team. Mickens, a unanimous first-team all-Big East selection last year, is one of three Big East players on the team, joining West Virginia quarterback Pat White and South Florida defensive end George Selvie. The All-American team will be in the magazine's September issue, which hits newsstands around Aug. 15.

Bill,
I know this is a bearcats forum, but any updates on the OJ Mayo ordeal? I think people should be glad UC did not land him because the same things might have arised.

Bigone,

He was getting paid and taking gifts when he was in H.S. Makes you wonder if Huggs would have gotten him to come here if he wasn't forced to leave. Heck, Huggs had a year off to recruit Mayo with risking no NCAA violations and he couldn't land him.

Bearcat fans up here in the Dayton area love seeing our local kids do well at UC.
It helps establish a little balance against the OSU hype we have to endure.

Preseason recognition is all fine and good. It's sort of like being a 4 or 5 star recruit. Potential is acknowledged by recognized authorities in the sport. Now, let's hope that he delivers on those expectations. I have little doubt that he will.

Better than that though, let's have a season that bests the last one. If that happens, we may be looking at a real bowl game this time around, possibly a BCS bowl!
