Good luck to Kelby Siler
Yesterday was the last day at UC for Kelby Siler, the sports information contact for football. Kelby, a former quarterback at the Mount who had one of his best games against archrival Thomas More, is one of those people who work behind the scenes in the UC athletic department, but whom most fans don’t know about. He’s been a great help to me in covering the football team during the past few years, providing me with stats, notes and background information on players and coaches. And he's done a great job in helping me set up interviews. He’ll be missed.

Bill, can you give us some insight about what the new bowl in St. Petersburg and the change for the PJ Bowl means for Big East bowl selection? What is the pecking order now and how many slots are there, keeping in mind that ND and Navy can take away a couple of the games.
Bill - what is Kelby up to?
I second Bill's thoughts on Kelby... just a tremendous asset for that department. Never failed to provide info, insight, players and access to BK. He'll be missed.
Unrelated: For the MC excuse makers, Will IU give Crean 5+ years to rebuild IU basketball? They have lost 10 players from last year.
anyone want to bet that IU is competing for BB championships in 2 years?
I don't know yet what Kelby will be doing. He hasn't told me, other than to say he's considering several options and is close to deciding.
Kelby has been a great help both on the basketball and football fronts for me as well. Wish him the best of luck in whatever he ends up doing.
Bill,
Why so little about the Big East Bowl moves in the paper and on the blog.
After all the harping about the Big East Bowls locations and their tie-ins I'd think that it would be worth a mention.
First a new Bowl game in Florida. Granted the game is inside which isn't ideal... but the other part of the time down there would be in the Florida sunshine.... not in the midwestern cold.
And talk about making lemonade out of lemons... the Papa John's Bowl luring the SEC into a matchup with the Big East.
That seems pretty important to me.
I dind't expect this stuff to be above the fold on A-1... but why would it not be mentioned here in a Big East City?
Kelby will be missed. He was a fun guy to be around during practice and game weekends. Never failed to help me if I needed anything and always was friendly.
Without a doubt I'll miss Kelby too. He was always fun to be around during practice or out at camp. He would always say Hi and was a nice guy to me. Road trips won't be the same.
