Byrd pays fine
University of Cincinnati defensive tackle Terrill Byrd on Saturday paid a $65 dollar fine and $90 in costs in connection with a March 5 incident in which he was arrested and charged with drug abuse, according to the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts web site.
According to court documents, Byrd - a second-team All-American in 2007 - was caught smoking marijuana at his residence in the 2800 block of Bearcat Way at 11 p.m. on March 5.
An arrest warrant had been issued for him after he failed to appear in court on the charge Friday.

FYI. The other criminal (M Simpson) got same sentence too per Hartmann's website.
does that admit his guilt?
Not sounding good on the Hopson front right now, per a Louisville newspaper blog:
"First of all, in response to a number of emails about my post last night regarding Scotty Hopson. I had several folks tell me Cincinnati is nowhere in the picture and a few also tell me that Kentucky is not in the picture, including the one comment on the blog. All I can tell you is just wait until after the season. Nothing is 100 percent sure right now because Hopson is not talking. But I know Kentucky is very much in the picture and Cincinnati will get a look. I'm not saying he'll go to either or will even highly consider either - I don't know that and neither does anyone else right now. Let's just sit and wait and see what happens."
Looks like UC is not even close to the top. They will get a "look." Wow.
Not surprising if a recruit of Hopson's caliber doesn't want to play for a coach like Mick.
Looks like the recruiting class might be ranked lower than this past year's at this point. And that's a VERY scary notion.
If that's the case, the team will have no seniors like this past year and just the poor top-15 class to go with a LOWER ranked class. They could be WORSE than this past year. Wow.
Sippin' Mick Moniker Maker
Its obviously bad to break the law smoking pot.
But what really upsets me is these two wouldn't have the sense to go to court and take care of the problem.
There is a decent chance nobody would have known about this if they had.
Instead they don't go, skip court and get arest warrants issued.
Stuff like this just doesn't go away.
65 bucks doesn't make it sound like a serious crime, does it?
Sippin' Mick Moniker Maker,
What the Mick Lovers like to point out is what a GREAT recruiter Mick is. But, it makes all the difference when you are recruiting kids to play for real coaches with national recognition like Huggins and Pitino. Now he's recruiting kids to play for himself.
We have had a chance to listen to his rhetoric about how good last year's class was and then see it for ourselves. So did recruits like Hobson. Only the Mick Lovers and the Delusional Dreamers actually believe Hopson will ever become a Bearcat. The rest of us are actually facing reality. And the reality is that this team will not rise much above mid-major with Nancy's selection as head coach. We see this and so do the better high school players around the country.
So anyone who wants to can keep dreaming that this team will be back in two years. All I can say is that I hope your dream comes true! But few dreams actually do.
Xavier has never been to a Final Four.
****Muskie fan with no football team or basketball accomplishments.
Sippin' Mick-
You should do a little research. Take a look at the recruiting classes that other Big East teams have coming in this year. You might be surprised.
But since we both know you won't do anything that may challenge this "fragile" reality you have made for yourself- I'll save you a little time and effort. Even if UC doesn't land Hopson, as of right now they have the 4th or 5th best recruiting class in the Big East. If UC does land Hopson, they will move into 3rd best class in the Big East, behind only Georgetown and Louisville.
The 2800 Block of Bearcat way isn't really a block or a regular street. It's the Campus Rec Center Dorms.
Just thought I would point that out.
Your act is very tired Mr. Making up Nicknames that Are Not Funny. We get it. you dont like Mick. We understand. You want Huggins or Kennedy back. we understand. we have moved on. you should to. your negativity is tiring and adds nothing to the conversation because you provide no objectivity at all. Please do not post anymore. We can all predict what you are going to say everytime in every situation. You wast Mr. Koch's time in reading your comments and everyone else's on the board. Please just stop. You are not funny, creative or insightful. Take your constand negativity elsewhere please. Thank you.
Byrd's RA in the dorm must have been having a bad night. That's too bad for him. You have to be pretty dumb to not try and cover up the smell though.
SMMM,
The reports on Scotty Hopson in Jody Demling's blog at the Louisville-JC site are very confused. There is so much mis-information on the web about Scotty Hopson that we will have to "wait until after the season (high school)," just like Jody Demling said in the quote.
SMMM, what does that have to do with the Byrd situation? But thanks for the update anyway. We all know that "a Louisville newspaper blog" is the utmost authority on recruiting.
Dear Sippy,
Ohio's Division One Player of the year and one of Huggins recruits want to play for Mick. So don't be scared. You won't be over the rainbow with Dorothy and Toto.
I know when I want news about UC basketball, I check out a Louisville paper's blog and use one innocuous remark from that to make my argument.
It doesn't do much for my credibility -- in fact it makes me look pretty foolish. But it gives me a reason to post on a football thread about my obsession with Mick Cronin.
AK 0-3 as head coach for the NCAA tournament.
MC 2-5 as a head coach.
Any idea when they are going to release the corrected brackets? They forgot to include that superstar young coach and his ole miss squad...surely there is a mistake..
gosh i wish UC would have hired him!
CSA....."If you insist making ridiculous claims of grandeur, at least try something new that possibly could make a lick of sense".....Wow this coming from your mouth? Hmmmm, maybe you should listen to your own advice....Now there is a thought.
The fact remains, Cronin's team out played Huggin's team. Look at the stats, they don't lie. They were a better team on THAT NIGHT, and that night is a glimpse of what the future holds. Cronin took a crappy team and beat Huggins' (the so called legend, well at least in your mind) NCAA tourny team, and Cronin beat Huggy Beer at his house. I am just sticking to the facts here. You should try it.

The fact remains, Cronin's team was out played by the Bowling Green team. Look at the stats, they don't lie. They were a worse team, and that night is a glimpse of what the future holds. Cronin took a crappy team and lost to Bowling Green State (the so called legend, well at least in your mind) NCAA tourny team, and Cronin lost to Bowling Green at home. I am just sticking to the facts here. You should try it.
