All's quiet

Not much to report the past few days. There was no practice Thursday and although the Bearcats did practice early this morning, there was no media access. I will offer up this, however: As you know, UC's one and only trip to the Big East Tournament resulted in the Gerry McNamara game-winning shot two years ago, which means the Bearcats have yet to win a game in the tournament. How will they do this year? Can they win a game? Maybe two? Could they get hot and go all the way to the finals, maybe even win it? I know they've lost their last two games, but they played in two of the league's toughest venues - at Georgetown and at Pitt. They played fairly well at Pitt, not so well at Georgetown. How are they playing overall as they head into the final three games of the regular season?

All's quiet and boring on this blog also!

What's the big deal if practice is closed to the media? Mick's got everything totally under control. In fact, all anyone ever has to do is read the comments on this blog and you would know that he's going to win at least ten national championships real, real soon. So, just relax and leave the driving to Sooper Mick!

Bill,
Gotta give ya credit. You posted something for us to comment on.
But, what else is there to say that hasn't been said?
I'm sure the same posters will weigh in (like I am now). But just about everything has been said that can be said.
Let's see what happens from here in the last 2 games, then the BE tourney and (probably) NIT -- and put this season to bed.

"put this season to bed"? Bad news is the next day, you have to wake up with whom you slept.

they should win the last 2 home games and lose the last road game.

0.500 season - and lose their first tourney game.

big deal on the season.

watch them jack up the ticket prices too, like football. what a joke. forcing us long time supporters to pay for nancy's debacle. mt, you are not caring for the long time fans.

Anon 7:04,

Just hope that this nightmare will only last another 2 or 3 years. Contrary to what the ultraoptimists on this blog are predicting, things may get worse before they get better in BB. Hope not, though.

Seriously, what makes you say that? Other than to get a rise out of people. The way I see it as it stands now, they have improved from last year to this year and should improve even more next year. Point out to me where they have regressed from last year??

Sure UC is winless in the BE tournament, the NCAA tournament is a fond but distant memory. And we're not going to win anything worthwhile this year.

But Nancy is happy. She's the big person on campus (in her own mind). No mettlesome personalty like Huggs to remind her of her medicore persona.

Long live Queen Nancy.

She's the Queen on campus. What else could she possibly aspire to?

It's no big deal that the basketball team we all gravitated to is being rebuilt and there is nothing like a league championship or a trip to the Big Dance to aspire the community. It's all about Nancy and Nancy is Queen.

It is the Queen city afterall!

Just objectively, I find it hilarious when I read a post about Z's ego when Huggs' is enormous - in fact so huge that he thought he was the boss of the university. I'd like to see any of us try the stunts he pulled on her on our bosses. We'd be gone in 60 seconds.

Anon 10:24,

There you go telling it like it is. Just like many of us who were once PROUD of our BB team, confident in the players and coaches and always looking forward to being in the ONLY postseason tournament that means anything.

Shouldn't we (who live in the pasr...LOL) just put on our blinders and pretend that the BOT and Nancy didn't destroy our BB BEARCATS?

I could point out to 8:27 how they are not going to be better next season. But I am no longer wasting my time with anonymous posters.

It's tough reading dumb comments posted by dumb people. Mick isn't Huggins. Thank God.

Can't they get a little hot? Can't Gentry find his shot? Will we see more of the driving to the basket Adam that we saw at Pitt? They learn with every game.

It's a slim chance that they win the BE tourney, but they still have a chance. I like to be optimistic. AND they still have a great shot for the NIT - they could do some serious damage there. There would be an NIT championship banner hanging in the rafters if White and Muhamed could have attended class. Post season play is post season play - espcially for the guys on the court. If anyone saw Eric Hicks come out in the last minute of the South Carolina game you know that.

Let's go for the stretch run now.

I keep reading these vague references about Huggins, like this and "distasteful conduct in meetings", but never anything specific.

As for the basketball team's chances in NYC... they won't win any more than one game until they put a complete game together and stop turning the ball over.

Their current level of play is getting it done vs. St. John's and South Florida, but it won't happen vs. the teams that will actually be playing in NYC.

I'm happy with the improvement this year, but still a LONG way to go.

Bill, interesting topic. Thanks for keeping things going with the slow news.

To Brian Johnson:

It wasn't vague reference - it was published in the paper fact. Just imagine if your boss told you that because many of your employees, for lack of a better analogy, were often in trouble with the law and reflecting on the company, and your recent DUI that was also public knowledge and would have an impact on the company, that you would be losing your job but you had two YEARS notice.

Now, because you were experienced at your job, you knew it would be hard to sell your four year widget contract to your customers who wanted you to service their accounts, but you got up in front of a microphone and said you would honor your contract and stay those two more years. But, having been in this job for decades, and so knowing you couldn't sell much if your clients wanted you to service the contract, you didn't really mean it when you said you'd stay two more years. It was a stall, in the hopes your public would force your boss to keep you.

So you wait a few months until it's practically impossible for your boss to find a replacement at that time of the year, and you know it, to announce that your clients won't buy from you. As if you just found that out. And you want a buyout instead of that two year deal and you get your attorney to negotiate it. You make out handsomely.

That is all FACT. It's what he did to his employer because they didn't like aspects of his job performance. Any boss in America would classify that as a first-class stunt, and thus my definition of his antics.

CSA does that mean you will stop posting anonymous support for your pointless, negative, biased & unwanted rants? Probably not who else could you possibly get to agree with you other than yourself.
