Must-win situation tonight for Pitt?

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is billing tonight's game as a must-win regular-season game for Pitt. Despite a three-game losing streak, Pitt seems to be in good shape for an NCAA Tournament berth with a RPI of No. 25, but a home loss to UC, which would extend the losing streak to four, could be damaging. The Panthers play at Syracuse on Saturday, followed by a game on Monday night at rival West Virginia, so they're not out of the woods yet. Pitt has never lost four in a row in five seasons under Jamie Dixon. The Panthers are 11-point favorites to beat UC, even though the Bearcats have a better Big East record and even though they beat Pitt in Cincinnati on Jan. 19.

Bill, when you get the opportunity to talk FB. I'd like to learn from Kerry Combs what he thought about his first year at UC, does he like recruiting, does he have reservations about leaving Colerain, and does he aspire to be a college head FB and by what year.
Thanks.

Pittsburgh is an eleven point favorite? This is an OUTRAGE! UC has a better Big East record, therefore they should obviously be the favorite. Not to mention that they already beat an injury riddled Pitt team at home by 3 points or so, plus they have the Big East Coach of the Year in Lord Mick. I don't see how they can lose.

Final Score: Bobcats 88
Panthers 55

There must be a GIANT mistake here! How on earth can the super well coached, powerful, present-day Bearcats be 11 point underdogs to Pityburgh? Especially, with the super great defensive center that some on this site have said that the European "pro" is. Isn't being a 'pro' why he had to sit out last season? I'm betting that if the NCAA had known just how good Adam H. really is, they would have granted both years. Then, we could have enjoyed the fabulous layup clinic for two whole seasons. What a thought!

I haven't talked to Kerry Coombs recently but I can tell you that he has told me that he loves coaching at UC, has has no second thoughts about leaving Colerain and enjoys recruiting. I remember last summer when the high school season was getting ready to start, he did miss it a little, but he had no regrets. I assume he wants to be a head coach. Nearly all assistant coaches do.

CSA,

The Bobcat is a fierce animal that has adapted to modern civilization very well. Only twice the size of a domestic cat, it's prey includes deer. Some feat for such a small creature.

I'm proud to be connected.

I'd suggest you grow up.

Whine, whine, whine...CSA, get a life man. Truly pathetic.

UC is an underdog because they are out-talented and it is AT Pittsburgh.

For anyone who is interested there is a site called nitology.com. A guy out there somewhere does the same thing for the NIT as they do for the NCAA tourney. They have Uc in at an 8 seed... just check it out if your interested in Uc post season.

???

Was that before or after tonight's loss to Pitt? Cats are probably on the bubble for the NIT, maybe even on the outside looking in.

If you look at the site it is updated as of Feb. 25th last check. If they do not get an invite to the NIT look for them to make the CBI.

Wow! Isn't this great? The fantastic possibility of two LOSERS tournaments. If you don't get invited to the LOSERS NIT, now you'll have a shot at the LOSERS CBI. Thanks BOT and Nancy!

Well you could think like that... or you could say Huggs is a drunk and Cronin will bring in way better players... (he did most of the recruiting for huggs) and how can the NIT or CBI be bad after last season! I said at the beginning of the season if they make the Conf. toueney ill be happy, and well they clinched a spot with last nights St.Johns loss.
