Carey changing positions

Elder High School product Craig Carey is no longer in the mix at quarterback. He's being moved to either defensive end or outside linebacker. That leaves UC with five quarterbacks who will compete in spring practice - Dustin Grutza, Demetrius Jones, Tony Pike, Zach Collaros and Chazz Anderson.

Craig Carey is a player. I'm glad that BK is looking to fit him in. I have little doubt that he's going to be a plus wherever he lands.

Man, I think he'd make a great tight end too.

he would make a great tight end. but not as good as barwin will this coming year and adrian robinson next year. robinson is listed as WR but with his size he will most certainly be moved to tight end and i believe has already been practicing at that spot.

I hope Craig can keep his spirits up. This may feel like a demotion to him. However, the change can get him playing time and he can help UC improve on their great 07 record.

I think Carey's spirits will be fine. He played some special teams last year, if I remember correctly. He seems like the type of guy who just wants to get on the field and help the team.

So we move on.
What is the injury and surgery that Demetrius Jones recently had performed? How did Jones hurt himself, At UC or at ND?

D Jones showed up from notre dame with a tear in his shoulder. Pins were placed in shoulder to stablize shoulder. D Jones is out of sling and lifting weights but not throwing.

Carey did some great work on special teams last year. He looks like a good athlete and a typically tough Elder kid (btw I'm a St X grad). I think he can help the team in other ways besides special teams and I'm glad to hear BK is trying to find that place.

I think Carey lead the Special Teams in tackles last year. I don't remember which games, but he made some killer hits on the return man on kick-offs and punts. I'd love to see him in the rotation on the defensive side of the ball.

Dominick Goodman was the Colerain state champ team QBack, and he switched on arriving at UC. Bodes well for Carey.

Goodman is now a dynamite receiver with great hands and concentration. He has good but not great speed. I think he's a pro pick eventually.

Kelly's spread offense makes trick plays ... run or pass using Goodman ... a natural.

Wonder if Carey could get trained as the FG holder....

Rivals.com says Alvin Mitchell has been suspended from the team indefinitely by Cronin for not living up to expectations regarding the classroom and his individual life.

I just read that about Mitchell. Bill, any more details or insight you could provide?
