Football tickets

UC announced today that season football tickets go on sale March 3. Current season ticket holders' seat locations will be held until April 30, after which the seat locations will be offered to UCATS members and reserved season ticket holders, based on UCATS priority points. The prices:

UCATS reserved: $232
Non-UCATS reserved: $232
Family Section: $199
Bearcats Lair: $90
Faculty/Staff $158
Youth $90

The school announced that the UC bench will be moved next year from the west side (press box) of the stadium to the east side to avoid teams having to cross paths on the way to their respective locker rooms. The school will also create the Bearcats Club in the atrium of the Lindner Center, where light snacks and drinks will be available during the pre-game.

What happened to the Young Alumni tickets? What happened to general admission? What is the student ticket policy next year. I have two degrees from UC and want to know if I can renew my Young Alumni tickets.

These are very reasonable packages. I was afraid after the big season that ticket prices would go through the roof. I am having a tough time deciding whether to buy four reserved season tickets or perhaps buy the family pack, which has a lesser location but is only $199.

Not that I didn't expect a jump in price, but isn't that a HUGE ticket price increase?

at 7:01 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

I believe last years season tickets were about half this cost.

wow - thanks UC. One good season and you can't wait to gouge the fans.

That is disgusting.

I wonder if season ticket holders are contemplating changing their side of the stadium's seats, since the team benches are changing sides?

at 7:15 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Continues to be a bargain, in my opinion. I will be signing up for a total of six this year.

Worse home slate as well. I have to admit I'm disapointed by this. I expected a price increase... but geez!

Does this include the Bowl credit or not???

I paid $60 for the Bearcat Lair season tix last year. This year they will be $90. I'm happy to pay an extra $30 to support my alma mater. These are still the best deal you can get at a BCS school.

Cheer Cincinnati!

Do thoses prices include the bowl credit?

In all honesty, the moderating is taking much of the fun out of this blog, especially the spontaneity factor. Sometimes, the delay in postings is hours, as was the case today. And sometimes, it's many, many hours - up to 12 overnight. Josh's method of handling his old blog, quite honestly, was MUCH more fun. Occasionally, he would find it necessary to remove a really knuckleheaded post, but that happened not all that often. Something really needs to be revised with this current method, both to speed up the comment postings and to lessen the restrictive censorship.

I found my receipt from the 2005 - 2006 season. UCATS seats (with seatbacks),

2 season tix and a parking pass for $280.00

Amazing what a little success does for a program in financial trouble.

I'm not paying for the Huggins payoff from my ex-season football tix.

Seats available, contact slick Mike Thomas. 1-800-Rip-Off!

Bill -

Could you ask why it is this big an increase?

Higher increase than the Bengals and Reds combined!

Time will tell how this brilliant move pans out.

When UC BB returns to winning, the fans will focus on positive posts. Until that successful year, negative posts will run rampant on this blog without monitoring. CSA and the others proved what idle minds will do.

at 10:51 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Last year the game day prices were 28 and 24 per game. This year the season ticket went up 50 bucks. The head coach got a 500k raise and his assistants got bumps too. Guess where the money is going.

at 11:43 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

the prices went up $50 over last year for season tickets. These are still some of the lowest prices in the Big East even though UC plays in the smallest stadium. Less seats = higher cost.

at 7:34 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 9:34,

IF UC BB returns to winning, all of us fans will focus on positive posts. Until that successful year, yes, negative posts will continue to occur on this blog, but with far too much monitoring. CSA and we others will continue to speak our minds, much to the chagrin of you Mick Lovers.

At some point we have to pay the price to win the prize ... unless what some of you are saying is we only care as long as it does effect us.

I personally think its time UC football thinks bigger than its past (C-USA) and become a top program. People seemed to enjoy the success last season (three sellouts).

As a lifetime native of Cincinnati, I am tired of being overshadowed by Ohio State. UC is the only other BCS school in the state and there is no reason it shouldn't compete as a top 25 program.

at 9:16 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

attention idiots complaining about the price...UC football is BY FAR the best value in the city.

the non-ucat season tix increased about $40/seat for the season. if you care about college football and the success of UC - you're HAPPY that they increased prices. They need cash to build an indoor practice facility, renovations to Nippert.

Oh well - maybe you're better off with the bengals.

at 9:30 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bill,

If we use the logic suggested by some that Nippert is small and therefore with less seats the demand for tickets increases and so does the price - could we expect any change should the team move to Paul Brown Stadium? Or will it be even more expensive when OU, VaTech or other big names come to PBS?

Furthermore, I understand some price increase over last year, but when considering the home schedule this year the prices are completely unreasonable. I consider only half the teams at home this year to give us a good game (Rutgers, USF, Pitt). Asking $50 to see UC take on EKU is a crime.

Also, two of the six home games (EKU and Miami) take place before students are even back in school. Something is incredibly wrong here. No one can tell me that 1) the student section will be filled for these two games and 2) that "demand" to see EKU and Miami necessitates these high prices.

(9:34) So if you do not agree with all the rosy pictures being painted on this blog, you should not be permitted to post? Is that what you are saying? That is certainly what it sounds like.

Wouldn't that be nice, nothing but cream and suger. No mean old truth-sayers to bring us down.

at 9:37 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Does the $232 price include the $50 Bowl credit or is it $232 + $50 for $282?

at 10:18 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Granted UC football tickets are arguably the best deal in town. But the price increase is pretty steep.

at 10:18 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Some info:
As a BCS school the price of the tickets is much less than any other BCS college's from my personal experience. Went to the pitt game last year and believe we paid at least $35 for that ticket. The ND vs PSU ticket was $75. Each. For one game.

Pry open your change purses and pay if you're a true fan. Otherwise go support your own team and stay off this. Those of you complaining probably didn't attend more than one game anyway if at all.

Our tickets were $182 each. We're talking a $50 per ticket increase to see some outstanding and not DIII-level football. And yes it includes a bowl credit. Look stuff up before you jump.

Don't like the schedule? Complain to the Big East Commissioner. Syracuse got a sweetheart of a schedule. UC has to work around BE scheduling. Deal with it.

Most complainers probably have no gripe about ponying up for a case of beer but can't seem to manage to spend more for a quality coach and staff and outstanding players.
Give me a break.

Like others I'm about done with this blog because of all the negative pollution of likely non-UC people as well as those who can't let go of the past.

at 10:27 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Haha...you guys think you've reached the pinnacle and you are complaining about $200 for season tickets!? If you take a short trip north you'll find the same tickets cost several thousand dollars.

at 10:49 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wow, what a great sports town. Fans wining about 100 bucks, and they are still some of the most reasonable tickets in football period. If you're that low rent, and can't scrape together that little extra cash to support a school trying to bring a big time attraction to your city, you've always got the bengals on sunday. They only received about $600 million for this community. Classic cincinnati low rents!

Folks, I have Dallas Cowboys season tickets. My tickets have increased in price 50% in the last five seasons and I haven't even seen what Jerry Jones thinks my seats are worth in his new stadium (the 15,000 "club seats" in that stadium all have seat licenses. Those seat licenses start at $16,000 and go up to $150,000 per seat. The price of each game ticket in that area after you paid the seat license is $340).

I think my Bearcat season tickets are a steal!

at 11:33 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

price increases is a necessary step to gain a national stronghold. as for A-6:31, the young alumni section from my understanding was removed due to lack of interest both last year and this

at 12:13 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

The $50 bowl credit is included for the reserved seats, so that makes it $182 per ticket. That's just $30.33 per game.

Where do folks come up with the $50 per ticket? Must be Suckeye or Eggsavier math.

It seems to me that the people who complain the most about the Administration not willing to do what it takes to become a big time College Football program are the same ones that praised them for re-signing BK to his new contract...unfortunately, they are the same ones who gripe when the price of tickets go up.

Where did they think the money was going to come from???

...and we are still the best deal around in BCS football!!!

at 1:26 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

The people that complain about the administration are those that miss their beloved Bob. That's the ONLY reason they don't like the administration.

I am so glad I got Bearcat Lair seats last year and I can't wait to renew them for this year.

at 2:31 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Gotta pay for BK and the bubble some kind of way. I would venture to guess that a large majority of those complaining about ticket prices are probably not UCATS members.

at 3:19 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

PEOPLE,

Prices went up...

$50 (182 to 232)
$30 (60 to 90)
and $0! (199)

How on earth do some of you do your math? And how is that a rediculous price jump?? $50 dollars???? How cheap are some of you?

at 4:10 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 1:26,

That's a rather narrow conclusion as to why some of us berate this sorry administration. I, for one, thought that Huggins had pretty much worn out his welcome after the infamous video incident. That, however, does not excuse the absolutely ignorant handling of his dismissal and the obliteration of our BB program, from which we have yet to recover.

And, noone knows, including you as to how long it will be until BB fully recovers.

What a bunch of babies. So what if ticket prices increased? They have been increasing the last three years I ahve had season tickets. We all knew after last year" winning season they would increase.

The ticket packages are still a very good bargain as compared to other BCS programs. People from the Cincinnati area are so cheap. We want a winner, but do not want to pay anything to achieve that goal. This is the same attitude that permeates the fans of the Reds and Bengals too.

I am a proud UC alum. I am more than willing to put my monetary support forward. I am more than willing to support this program and Athletic Department. If you do not like it, then sit at home on your hands. A program is only as strong as its alumni base. Welcome to Top Tier D1 athletics.

at 5:23 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

People complaining on here are not UC alums or fans.

These are the same idiots paying ungodly prices for that poor Bengals product on Sundays.

Bearcats ARE The City of Cincinnati's Football Team period. In the last 20 years the Cats have had more winning season and post season appearances.

Everyday is a great day to be a Bearcat. I have and will always be willing to pony up what ever financial support my alma mater asks for. Period.

I went to the recent UCATS presentation on their priority seating program and they did a very thorough presentation of where they are and where they plan to be.

The plain facts are that UC's revenue MUST go up substantially to compete in the Big East. The administration is committed to that...ergo ("therefore" for you Xavier lurkers) UCATS contribution levels and ticket prices are going to go up. Some of the old farts (like me) will squeal and drop their tickets. That is great because some really good seats are going to be available. I have waited (and paid $$) for years to get lower level seats at the Shoe and I think next year will be the year. The athletic department knows that the football program MUST be a success for the whole program to work. Anybody who is a real UC fan and loves college football should jump on this. UC is one of the best bargains in BCS football. Meanwhile, as I noted above, if you are willing to make a substantial UCATS payment, good seats are probably going to be available next year. To me, I have no idea why someone would shell out good money for consistently losing products like the Reds and Bengals when UC football and basketball are available at these prices. We dropped our Bengals tickets after 13 years back in '93, got UC season tickets and it was the best sports decision we have made.

Sometimes it pains me to be a native of Cincy and a UC alum.. Venture out of Cincy every once in a while people. This is still the best deal in D1 football compared to just about any other school. I renewed my tickets today and had two newbies jump onto the wagon. The newbies don't want to be left out in the cold for future tickets and one stated I cannot take my family anywhere for $50-$60.
