UC vs. Villanova in first round?

With two games remaining for UC, the most likely scenario has the Bearcats as the No. 8 seed playing No. 9 seed Villanova in the first round of the Big East Tournament next Wednesday at noon. Under this scenario, UC (8-8) splits its final two games - tonight vs. DePaul and Saturday at UConn - to finish 9-9. Villanova (currently 8-9) wins at Providence on Saturday to also finish 9-9, but UC gets the No. 8 seed by virtue of its 69-66 win over Villanova on Jan. 12. The winner of that game would play the No. 1 seed, either Louisville or Georgetown, in the quarterfinals at noon on Thursday.

So, who would you rather play in the second round, Georgetown or Louisville?

If they play villanova they won't make it past the first round. This team has been regressing since 2008 started.

Syracuse could also be 9-9 with a win at home vs. Marquette. UC beat them both. Syr. & Vill. split their 2 games so I don't know who UC would play under that scenario. Pitt(9-8) likely to finish 10-8 with DePaul at home.

Sounds like a one and done Big East Tournament to me.

SMMM,

No, they started out at the bottom by losing to Belle Mount and Big Girls State University. Then they peaked by beating Louisville, Syracuse, Villanova and Pittsburgh for a 4 out of 6 stretch. Now, starting with a meager one point victory at home over lowly South Florida following by three straight losses including losing at home to a very weak Providence team, I'd say they are regressing quite well at this point.

Thanks for the info. It's nice to have a good idea who will knock UC out in the first round.

I would rather play Louisville again.
Neither is a great matchup for us, but Georgrtown is much more physically imposing than Louisville is.
We would have much more trouble with that.

Hey, will you give it a rest. I get already. You hate Mick, you hate UC basketball, you hate Nancy, you hate the AD, and you hate broccoli. I get it. You probably haven't noticed that Bill K has been the best thing to happen to this UC blog (but you probably hate that too.) The rest of us like UC basketball. Its not perfect but neither is life. Of course the season but that is why that I like college basketball. That is why I am glad there is a local blog that we can discuss these ups and downs without all of the constantly negative comments about the program from you two. Can you please just go away.

RM,

You are SO completely far off target. I don't hate everything. In fact, I love UC basketball, but not in its present substandard state. And you're wrong on another count - I don't hate broccoli at all. George Bush Sr. does.

Sincerely,

President of the 'We Love Mick No Matter What' Fan Club

Very interesting that the "fans" who chronicled Mick's peaks & valleys left out the humiliation of West Virginia.
Now why would that be?
