Catching up

Some late responses to some of your comments from yesterday. Sorry for the delay.

First, as to what Josh Katzowitz is doing, probably a lot of you know that he's working for Rivals.com. He's also doing a lot of free-lance work and even had a story in the New York Times a few weeks ago about the A-10. Good for him.

Someone asked what happened to Joby Wright. I'll try to find out, but I don't think he's in coaching anymore.

And finally, yes, it would be a good idea to post more UC flashbacks like the LaZelle Durden entry. I'll try to do that more often.

Bill,
I read that Joby Wright will be coaching at Marshall High School in Indianapolis next year.
Not sure what he's doing right now.

Bill-

Just do us a favor...when doing a flashback, please don't use the headline "Remembering (insert player name)."

When I saw that, I thought you had breaking news about how Durden had passed away and almost had a heart attack.

Now, if you can tell me what Mike "The Rock" Reichenecher is doing - and also correct my lazy spelling of his name - that would be great.

At one point in the last few years Joby Wright was an assistant coach with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Good job cleaning up the thread, Bill. Thanks.

In other news, the Globetrotters have coaches.

Whatever happened to Darnell Burton?

Wingfield? He may be back in Georgia. A columnist at Atlanta Journal-Constitution rated him in the all-time ten best high school players in Georgia. http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/prepsports/entries/2007/03/06/

Also, there was a Dontonio Wingfield Jr. playing boys basketball in Butler County (Ohio). Class of 2013. He may be related.

Hopefully if that is his son, he learned a lesson from dad, don't head to the NBA too soon.

Ryan Ernst in our office also thought LaZelle Durden had passed away when he saw that 'Remembering LaZelle' headline. I'll be more careful next time.

Bill...sorry, didn't mean to make you feel bad about LaZelle. But it did make me go "holy s**t" for a moment.

For what it's worth, I think people enjoy hearing about what some of these "oldtimers" are doing now. Good stuff - and when you're able to do so when not working on deadline related material - adds to the blog.

Thanks

How about Flashback to Lazelle Durden instead???? That keeps his feet firmly planted on the correct side of the grass. I too was concerned for Lazelle's well being considering he was a Prop 48 and was NOT the brightest bulb in the bunch.
