More on Mitchell

Just talked to Mick Cronin. He would not elaborate about the reasons for Mitchell's suspension, except to say that it has nothing to with basketball. "It's been a series of things that have led us to this point," Cronin said.

He also said he's confident that Mitchell's suspension will not be a distraction to the rest of the team.

I asked him if there's a chance that Mitchell could remain suspended for the rest of the season.

"That's up to him," he said.

With current transfer penalties, if Mitchell leaves do we forfeit his scholarship for next year?

1:51 - do you not know that the first posting is supposed to be CSA?

Play by the rules or go home. I'd love to see this kid develop, but in the end it's up to him. Robert Whaley had all the talent in the world but didn't want to work. These kids have to want it. Hopefully the team leaders can talk some sense into him...

i bet mickee wished he had crowell still around.

this hurts a lot. mitchell played off and on - but if he was not the right guy - more power to mick for setting him straight.

htis could hurt the team tremendously though.

Wow! UC at this point can't really field 5 true starters. And 2:52, you actually think this is going to hurt the team a lot??

Warren wrecks, driving without a license at 1 AM, must have been visiting a sick friend.

Yancy Gates suspended from Withrow team. Probably just dozed off in a study hall.

Alvin Mitchell suspended for non-basketball related reasons. Dog ate his school work.

What happened to Crowell? I forgot about him.

Yes, I see a lot of difference between Cronin's program and Huggins'. Unfortunately, it is mostly in the win-loss columns.

St. CSA

PS: Sorry I am late posting this. Seems it bothers Mr Anonymous when I don't make the first post.

Mick Lovers Theme Song

Sippin'. He's always sippin'
And he'll be sippin'
Tomorrow for you.

Lippin'. He's always lippin'
And he'll be lippin'
Excuses to you.

(Repeat either chorus as long as he's coaching at HIS dream job.)

Good for Mick!!! And this is a great season to lay down the law and earn the respect of your team. It isn't like UC was going to make some noise in the tournament and it isn't like Mitchell has been a real contributor anyway.

at 4:00 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Guess the next thing that we'll hear is that we've lost Adam H. for the rest of the season. Then what on earth will we do?

at 4:03 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

3:50, I'm finally able to put my finger on just what is irritating about Mick's water bottle. It makes him look like such a little kiddie when he sips on it.

Great discussion so far --comments are really maningful and full of thought.
Bill, you must be sooooo proud.

My guess is his suspension will end somewhere after the South Florida game and before the Georgetown game.

Just a guess. (wink, wink)

For the pre-Zimpher graduates:

He'll need him for G'town, not USF .

I just wish Adam H. was half as good as Mick said last year that he was going to be. Or, was he just another of our super-recruiter's mistakes. Good thing Mickie didn't ask Adam H. if he had any friends who could play basketball. The European "pro" team was likely paying him NOT to play. We can't do that without violating NCAA rules and we know how much the NCAA loves UC!

Should we list the player transgressions under Huggins?

That will take some time.

at 4:34 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

4:30, hold off on that. Seems like a new list is quickly forming and will soon provide a great comparison.

at 4:40 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's ok - it's a loooong list and will take some time to put together.

at 4:45 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let's ask Darnell Burton to compile that list, he's got time on his hands.

at 4:51 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Which list? The old one that is finite. Or the new one with limitless potential?

i have a buddy in one of his classes and he said he sleeps the whole time...what player doesn't???
Alvin is the man and will be a beast the next three years..giv him a break..

You know what just breaks me up? If Huggins were still the coach, the anti-Huggins crowd would be out in full force with their typical stupid hateful remarks. But since it's a recruit of the beloved coach Sippin', the Mick Lovers are conspicuously silent on this issue. Too bad their silence never lasts.

6:55, does that mean he's the 4 million dollar coach? Sure has earned every penny of it so far! Aren't we just so proud of our BB program these days? Glad that beer guzzler Huggins is gone. Now, we can shoot for the conference tourney! No second round exits in the Big Dance for us anymore. We've solved that problem. And now the only video highlights anyone wants to see these days is Adam H. attempting layups.

wow look at all the Cronin Haters...Typical, get over it..Huggins is gone..As Far as Mitchell, he can come back or transfer, either way, MICK will bring the talent in.

at 10:42 PM Blogger Dave in Omaha said...

So, imbeciles...Why is Mick stupid? Does he make up inane poems in some lame attempt to grab attention?

Seems to me that Mick is getting the job done - sooner and better than anyone anticipated too!

I'll anticipate an intelligent response...

Z Money -

Marvin Gentry is in one of my classes. He puts a good deal of effort into his work and pays attention in class. Then again, I don't think he's banking his future on basketball, but I think Mick won't put up with the crap that Thuggins did.

And for all the Mick Haters... since it's clear to everyone what doesn't satisfy you, what solution do you think would be more satisfactory that doesn't involve Bob Huggins?

at 12:02 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Great job by Mick set him srait while he is still young

at 12:12 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's scary to think Alvin seems like one of the best players Mick can produce on the recruiting trail.

Mick himself played Alvin up as instant offense and likely the best contributor of the freshman. Anyone shudder about the team's future offense??

Best thing mick tm can do is recruit great players for the next head coach.

Ah the joys of higher standards at a public university; I mean the Harvard of the Midwest.

Isn't it wonderful not hearing about recruiting players associated with drugs, not getting head cases, not getting players run off by the coach................

Say what? Mick is doing that and more?

Do tell!

at 10:14 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Recruit players for the next head coach? Mick can't recruit players who haven't been born yet.

Particularly not for a coach who hasn't been born yet.

Cronin haters, please go away. Please go sit in the corner, with your arms crossed and your li'l bottom lips stuck out, wearing your Huggs/K-State/WVU shirts, pouting over something that happened years ago. Please don't get a life, and please don't grow up and move on. Just keep being li'l cry babies. LOL! You idiots!

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing CSA is about 45, and probably still lives in the basement of his parents' home. And he's probably fat. And he's probably never had a girlfriend. And he probably has no life whatsoever. Other than anxiously waiting to post negative comments about UC. My guess is that he applied to UC as a 40-something year old, but his application was denied. So now he wakes up every morning, sniffling and feeling sorry for himself for being a loser who was unable to attend the college he always dreamed about.

I was thinking more along the lines of 36-37, embarrassed on the court 20-some years ago by none other than Mick Cronin, and still holding a grudge.

The rest of your description sounds spot-on though.

UC remains Thug U. It's a ghetto school with ghetto athletes.

Alvin Mitchell is the prototypical Cincinasti player. Don't you people ever get tired of being a national joke?! Guess not...

Suckeye Mike,

Are they now allowing blogging in lockup?

Or have you been released into the custody of your mommy and daddy?

Our youngest is almost 17 and he already acts a good 10 years more mature than you.

But then, who doesn't?
