Other spring practice tidbits
Ben Mauk practiced as he continues to pursue his NCAA appeal for another year of elibility.
Brian Kelly said he liked what he saw of Connor Barwin at defensive end.
"He looked fairly natural," Kelly said. "It didn’t look like it took him a long time to get lined up and get off the ball. Early indications are that he's got that innate ability to play the position, which is what we were hoping to see today.
Marcus Barnett, who has surgery after breaking his leg in the bowl game last December, is practicing but on a limited basis. So far, he's pretty much restricted to running some routes.
Overall, Kelly said he liked what he saw today.
"I thought the tempo was pretty good for the first day. If you remember last year, I had blood running out of my ears and my eyes from screaming. They understand the tempo necessary to be a championship football team. For a first day, what I look at from a head coach’s perspective is the tempo and how kids are moving around on the field and I was pleased with that."

Dissappointed to learn Mauk is stealing practice snaps from others that actually will be here next year. I hope the NCAA announces appeal decision ASAP. I don't see anyway they reverse their findings on Mauk.
I'm glad we're now talking about Football and a winning program.
I'm sick of hearing about the bad news regarding BB. I guess I missed the reporting when Scotty Hopson visited UC......not.
Looks like you are the one talking about UC BB... So whats the all time record foe UC football MSUC?? I mean a winning program means you have won more then you have lost... So back up your statement of winning program..
I'm disappointed to have read another one of your posts. You're about as fair weather as they come.
I don't think that Mauk is stealing snaps from other players. I doubt he is actualy "running" the offense.
But he is probably doing 7 on 7 work and throwing to the wr's. Plus having him there has got to help our younger QB's in development. He is a bit like a coach on the field I bet.
