Scotty Hopson to Tennessee
Rivals.com's Jerry Meyer is reporting on USA Today's web site that shooting guard Scotty Hopson from Hopkinsville, Ky., has committed to Tennessee after making an official visit there. Hopson was also considering UC and Mississippi State, the school he originally committed to.
"I just committed to Tennessee," Hopson told Meyer. "It was a pretty good visit and I like everything about the situation. It's a great situation.
"With (Chris) Lofton leaving, I can come in and start at the two. After coming down here and seeing what is in front of me, I decided to take charge of the situation and make a decision."
Hopson was the nation's No. 9-rated prospect, according to Rivals.

Do I really have to say "I told you so"?
I am not happy about UC not getting a top prospect, but I would have been shocked if they did get him. Why do you think we can't get any top caliper prospects? Some seem to think that we have the greatest recruiter of all-time on the job.
Danny, do you still have that video you wanted me to see?
ST CSA
If Hopson is as good as they say he is, he'll be lost to the NBA in a year or two anyways. Cronin and the Cats will be fine without him with this year's solid set of prospects to build on last year's top-25 recruiting class. Hopefully Alvin Mitchell returns and McClain recovers from his foot problems.
I'd rather get those top caliber prospects.
Chris,
How did that solid set of prospects perform last season?
Hopson is an elite recruit, the kind of kid that helps your recruiting and makes you look legit in one swoop.
UC did not have a realistic shot with him.
Too bad - would have been fun to watch.
Hard to keep track of UC's players - who is eligible, who left, foreign teams. Maybe they could look at XU and see how to do it. Phil Cox was right,
Chris,
"If Hopson is as good as they say he is, he'll be lost to the NBA in a year or two anyways."
Cincinnati has done well with JUCOs in the past, and they're present for only 2 years. Every time a team takes in any player they will either sit or play.
It is a rare player who plays for 4 years, but if they do, they, too, have just kicked some upper classman out of a job.
No matter how you cut it, teams regularly have players who play for them only one or two years.
Kevin Love and Michael Beasley are good arguments for taking the best players you can get.
We should probably wait until we have actual seniors before we compare UC with what Xavier did this year with a senior-heavy team thats played together for years. As for Scotty Hopson, who cares? Every school loses out on top recruits, there's only so many to go around. Cant miss what you never had.
How would you know UC didn't have a realistic shot at him? This coming from someone who thinks doing it the right way is having your AD busted having sex with the strength coach on her office desk. Now that's real class. Hey, muskiesrule, come on over to the Lindner Center and take a look at the National Championship trophies. It's a close as you'll ever get.
The Muskies will always be a mid-major ...I know it hurts, but it will never change ..They will never compete with the big boys..UC an and has already..
I guess we don't have punks that fight the opposing teams cheerleaders at midcourt like Stan.
Do I really have to say "I told you so"?
No not really. You could just post something like:
"Insert trite comment here."
and we'd all know it's the same derisive drivel we've come to expect from you.
