Congratulations to Corie Blount
Corie Blount, who played on UC's 1992 Final Four team and the 1993 Elite Eight team, is taking his last final exam tonight and expects to receive his degree next week. Good for him. Not only is he getting his degree, unlike some former UC players who turned against their school after Bob Huggins was let go, Blount returned to help coach the Bearcats under Andy Kennedy two years ago after Keith LeGree was forced to resign. He told me after that experience that he wanted to get into coaching full-time but that he needed his degree to do it. Now he's about to get that degree. Obviously, he wasn't just talking.

I guess he will never get the chance to coach at UC unless he renounces Bob Huggins. I would not be at all surprised to see him catch on with Huggins. He (Huggins) is known for giving great opportunities to aspiring coaches.

When did Cronin renounce Huggins? Saying something like "I owe everything to coach Huggins," which Mick did, certainly isnt renouncing Huggins.
Blount has already coached at UC, so your comment is even more worthless...
I hate to break into the daily spitting contest, but I must add my congratulations to Cory Blount.
Great basketball player. Made the NBA. Hopefully has a great career ahead of him.
So many players never go back to get their degree and end up paying for it for the rest of their lives. Here's to you, Cory!
Now I return you to the usual endless and boring debate.
Congrats to Corie...A true class act and a heck of college player.
CSA you seem to try to find a negative for every positive. Your life must be miserable.
Huggins is also known for not having assistants get head coaching jobs.
Agree with Monclova >> a good UC sport story about Blount - he was always a classy player/person.
Can't we all just get along and feel good for a moment?
Any chance he'll stay here to coach?
Really Greg????
Andy Kennedy
Mick Cronin
Frank Martin
Great to hear Corie will get his degree next year. Hopefully some other players from his era will choose to do the same.
Congratulations to Corie Blount. He deserves a lot of credit for sticking with this.
Good for Corie. I hope he gets a chance to coach right away. It would be great if Mick could find a job for him on his staff. If not, I hope he catches on somewhere and does well.
By the way, I didn't feel like it had to be repeated but, if you can't read the headline on the post: Congratulations to Corie Blount". Does that make you happy?
Bill,
Have the anonymous posters been eliminated? If so great job! Now you are going in the right direction.

I have met Cory on many occasions and he is always personable and easy to talk too. Congrats to him! I hope Mick takes advantage of him being in town and makes him part of the program - he would be a great asset in working with our big guys. Think of the impact he would have with guys like Yancey, Williams, McClain, etc...leave it to CSA to start off a positive post with a negative comment.
I have met Cory multiple times and he is very personable and easy to talk too - congrats to him! It would be great to see Mick keep him in town and let him work with the big guys - Yancey, Biggie, and Williams, etc... would benefit from his knowledge.
Leave it to CSA to turn a positive post by Bill into something negative - i.e. his first comments.
LOL, I guess that saying something positive about the evil Bob Huggins is construed as being negative by the ostriches?
That's great news! Congrats Corie, you sound like a real class act.
CSA,
Re your 9:07 post -- I'm with ya all the way!
Leisure Suit Larry @ 10:51 a.m.-- Did you realize 2 of your 3 examples (Kennedy & Martin)ONLY got jobs due to Huggins' fallouts at UC & K ST & likely wouldn't have their current D-1 jobs w/o same? This is not to say they both haven't done good jobs at their current positions. Cronin got his first D-1 job as a Petino asst. not a Huggins asst. The only other Huggins "offspring" I believe is Larry Harrison who I think coached at Loyola. Compared with other similarly pedigreed D-1 coaches, Huggins' record in this area can only be described as dismal. WHY is that?--- I don't know although I suspect it's the real reason Cronin left for UL in the 1st place-not that he thought Huggs was headed to WVU, which Mick has stated publicly.
If Corie has been on campus during the last two years, is he one of players at the summer open gym who spoke to Cronin about Rashad Bishop? Just wondering. No doubt he could teach McClain some big guy stuff.
Bill puts up a story about Cory Blount going back for, and achieving, his degree. Nice story.
What are most of the posts about? The pros and cons of Bob Huggins.
Unbelievable.
A quick debate question and in NO WAY is this suppose to be a flame or upset anybody....just a question. What was the official NCAA talley of UC graduates under Huggs? By definition, my understanding was that it was a player to come in as a freshman and leave in 3 or 4 years with a degree, no JuCo's, transfers, 5th or 6th year players, correct? To my recolection only Kenyon and Maxiell were the only ones that left with their degree in 4 years???
Whoopee, Yeah, Great Job! Kudos to Corie Blount. Everybody agrees. Really doesn't make for a very interesting blog, does it Steve?

Meanwhile Bearcat basketball remains at rock bottom with no signs of improvement.
Meanwhile Bearcat basketball remains at rock bottom with no signs of improvement.
Rock bottom? Rock bottom would be last place in the Big East again, instead of 6 spots higher.
No improvement? No improvement would be 2 wins in the Big East again instead of 8.
No signs? Well you wouldn't see them since you're blinded by your own negative agenda.
Congrats Corie!
